Canyons of the North
Three springs of the Sierra Tarahumara, leaving from Creel. Dirt roads, no hotel at the vent, and one of them is for looking: not for bathing.
Road line from OpenStreetMap data.
The range pulls open and the hot water rises on the canyon floor. Recowata sits by Creel and you can bathe. Maguarichi needs a day of its own: the road does not allow stacking it, and the water comes out too hot to enter. Huápoca lies north, in the Sirupa canyon, and that leg takes the day.
- None has a hotel. Recowata and Huápoca note camping; the comfortable bed is in Creel, not at the spring.
- Maguarichi comes out between 42 and 55 °C and the census records no temperate pool. You visit it. It is not a soak.
- Albercas Termales de Maguarichi to Aguas Termales de Huápoca is 7 h 14 min of driving. Better to end the day before you set off.
