The Sea of Cortez

The Las Tres Vírgenes volcano, which you look at, and Santispac beach, where warm water comes up in the sand.

Road line from OpenStreetMap data.

At Mulegé the gulf is still opening. Las Tres Vírgenes is a protected area: pools and fumaroles from 40 to 45 °C, for a visit. Santispac is the soak, from 35 to 40 °C, between the sand and the mangrove. Both are dirt roads and neither has a hotel.

  • Las Tres Vírgenes is not a soak: the census marks it as a protected area. Santispac is where you get in, and you sleep in camp.
